Students accepted to the REU program will receive the following financial support:

  1.  All travel costs. If you attend a school outside of Hawaii, we will purchase your airplane ticket for you.
  2. Interns living in University of Hawaii dormitories will receive a total stipend of $8,000 ($800 per week), and interns living off campus will receive a total stipend of $6,500 ($650 per week). Interns must plan to pay all of their living and local transportation costs from these funds, including dormitory-housing fees, meal charges, bus fares, and any other miscellaneous expenses.
  3.  $500 is provided to support each student’s research project and is paid to vendors on requests from mentors. These funds can also be spent for research-related interisland travel as approved by mentors.
